"Each and Every Cooper Rifle is Made With the Same Care and Attention No Matter What the Grade"

Fox firearms are proud to supply Cooper Rifles. For hunting, COOPER rifles are probably the best available, world-wide, short of spending thousands on top-quality custom rifles. Indeed, they may be fairly described as ‘semi-custom’ arms, and we believe nothing can compete in anything like their price range. Each Cooper is built to order, but we always have a few in stock. Please scroll through the page to see the full range of rifles.

All  actions and stock hardware are machined from solid bar stock steel. All  barrels are premium match grade and air gauge inspected. Our stocks are hand crafted every step of the way. They are cut, shaped, sanded, filled, checkered, and oil finished all by hand. When our stocks meet the finished barreled actions in assembly, they are hand fit to the individual rifle. This assures our famous custom wood to metal fit.

The actions are glass bedded behind the recoil lug and 1" forward of the breech. The barrels are free-floated. Once the rifles have been tuned they are final inspected and tested. Each rifle is shot for accuracy in its individual stock. Test targets are provided with each rifle. 22 LR’s are guaranteed to shoot 1/4" 5-shot groups at 50 yards using premium grade match ammunition. 22 Hornet family cartridges are guaranteed to shoot 1/4" 3-shot groups at 50 yards using hand loads. All other centerfires are guaranteed to shoot 1/2" 3- shot groups at 100 yards using hand loaded ammunition.

Model 52 North American Game Rifle

The Model 52 has a 3 round single stack stainless steel magazine. The floor plate blends into the bottom metal creating the look of a hinged floor plate. The magazine releases from a small lever where you would expect a hinge. Designed and manufactured by Cooper, the Model 52 is a semi-controlled round feed action with a mechanical ejector, simple safety, and three front locking lugs. The rifle is glass bedded and the barrel free floated. Accuracy is guaranteed at ½” 3-shot groups at 100 yards. The degree of our dedication to quality comes through when you shoulder the rifle and feel the rifle’s potential to hunt. From the hand cut checkering and hand rubbed oil finish to the fine adjustments in the shooting tunnel, the Model 52 takes you on a tour of talents that only exist behind the doors of Cooper Arms. Mystique? Perhaps. But let there be no doubt that this is our calling card to the hunting fraternity. We make the best there is because we make it for you. Options Available; Model 52 (25-06, 270, 280 and 30-06).

The Varminter

The Varminter is our most popular style, available in our Model 21, 22, and 38. All Varminters are single shot bolt action rifles that present superior accuracy in a variety of standard and wild-cat cartridges guaranteed to shoot 1/2" 3-shot groups at 100 yards (test target proving rifle accuracy included with every Varminter). All the Varminter Model actions are three front locking lug, bolt action, single shots featuring an adjustable trigger and a stainless steel match grade strait taper barrel (1" to .750" over 24"). 26" barrels are optional on Model 22's at no additional charge. The Varminter stock is hand crafted from AA claro walnut and features hand checkering and hand rubbed oil finish. Like all our rifles, the actions are glass bedded behind our P.O. Ackley style recoil lug and the barrels are free floated. A pillow of glass forward of the receiver dampens barrel resonance. Options Available; Model 21 (17Rem, 222, 223, 22PPC, 6PPC, 6x45, 6x47, 6.8PC, etc) Model 38 (17 & 22 Hornet Derivatives) Model 22 (22, 243/6mm, 25, 260, 6.5-284, 7-08, 308, etc).

The Montana Varminter

The idea for a "Montana Varminter" came from a series of field tests where it became necessary to find a way to help cool down the barrel other than simply opening the bolt and letting the rifle rest. As a result, venting or cooling holes (known more commonly as "Buick holes") were cut into the forearm. Upon introduction we also decided to make the Montana Varminter one step higher in wood grade by placing hand selected AA claro on them. The result is a very functional and slightly higher-grade varmint rifle than our stylish Varminter. Available in M38, M21, and M22. Options Available; Model 21 (17Rem, 222, 223, 22PPC, 6PPC, 6x45, 6x47, 6.8PC, etc) Model 38 (17 & 22 Hornet Derivatives) Model 22 (22, 243/6mm, 25, 260, 6.5-284, 7-08, 308, etc).

The Varminter Extreme

The Varmint Extreme (VE) is our top of the line varmint rifle. The VE's stock style was developed in 1993 and is the basis upon which the Varminter and Montana Varminter are built. The VE goes several steps up on wood quality, checkering and metal finish. The VE uses AAA claro walnut, has a crossover checkering pattern on the grip, and all metal is hand polished before an "egg-shell" matte finish is applied. All these cosmetic differences are done to create a truly custom built hand crafted varmint rifle of our most superior quality. Options Available; Model 21 (17Rem, 222, 223, 22PPC, 6PPC, 6x45, 6x47, 6.8PC, etc) Model 38 (17 & 22 Hornet Derivatives) Model 22 (22, 243/6mm, 25, 260, 6.5-284, 7-08, 308, etc).

The Jackson Squirrel Rifle

History:
The idea originated from a squirrel hunt I was on with my friend, Clifton Jackson, down in the White River area of Arkansas (just across the river from Mississippi). Yes, the rifle is named after Clifton (“Pete”) Jackson. Our quest became the design of the world’s finest squirrel hunting rifle ever made…the “Ferrari of all squirrel rifles”.
Our challenge was to transform the stark functionality of competition stock design into free flowing American shooting art. In doing so, we solicited the advice of Clifton’s uncle, Zell Daniels. We all came together with a concept and handed it over to the true genius, our chief stock maker, LeRoy Barry (who made it happen).

The Stock :

Designed by LeRoy Barry, the Jackson Squirrel Rifle has a roll-over cheek piece style. The grip is slightly swelled and a little larger than our standard shape (some may notice this as a palm swell). The forearm is “fluted” creating “finger grooves” along the sides and yet retains a shape that rests nicely on the bags. The shape is created from AA hand selected Claro walnut and features a Pachmayr pad and machined steel grip cap. Sling swivels are installed. Like all our stocks, the Jackson Squirrel Rifle is hand checkered and oil finished.

The Barrelled Action:

The power train in this “Ferrari of squirrel rifles” is our Model 57, available in 22LR, 22WMR, 17HMR, and 17 Mach2. The Jackson Squirrel Rifle comes standard with a stainless steel 22” match grade barrel that has a .940” to .580” contour taper. All metal work is matte finished.

The Jackson Squirrel Rifle in 22LR is guaranteed to shoot ¼” 5-shot groups using match grade ammunition; in 22WMR, 17HMR, and 17 Mach2 the rifles are guaranteed to shoot ¼” 3-shot groups at 50 yards. The rifle weighs 6.5 lbs. All options are available except for Skeleton and Niedner butt plates. Options Available; Model 57-M (22lr, 22WHR, 17Mach2, 17HMR)
